Frequently Asked Questions
What does gynecology address?
Gynecology addresses issues related to the health of a woman’s reproductive organs, including the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, and vagina. The practice also can address bladder issues. Common gynecology issues include:
- Menstruation and fertility
- Hormone disorders
- Fibroids and cysts
- Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)
- Urinary tract infection (UTI)
Oasis Women’s Wellness Center provides preventive care and management of gynecological issues. The doctors also provide second opinions, as well as same-day appointments when your regular gynecologist isn’t available.
What is involved in preventive gynecological care?
An annual wellness visit for all women is an important part of maintaining optimal health. During your visit, your doctor performs a thorough pelvic exam and a Pap smear to screen for cervical cancer, if needed.
Gynecology care can also include sexually transmitted disease testing. The gynecology care at Oasis Women’s Wellness Center includes personal consultations, where you can discuss symptoms you’re having or concerns about your sexual habits, periods, family plans, or lifestyle.
What gynecological procedures are available?
Oasis Women’s Wellness Center provides a wide variety of tests and procedures:
- Pap smears
- Pelvic exams
- Minor laparoscopic procedures
- Colposcopy
- Blood tests
- Urine exams
- Ultrasound
Your doctor considers your needs before offering a procedure or test.
What menopausal support is available?
Oasis Women’s Wellness Center can help you navigate complications that happen during menopause, defined as going 12 months without a menstrual cycle and the end of fertility.
Many women experience uncomfortable symptoms such as vaginal dryness, weight gain, hot flashes, and irritability during this time. Oasis Women’s Wellness Center offers support, including hormone therapy, to make the transition as smooth as possible.
During and after menopause, you still need regular gynecological care to monitor changes in your pelvic organs and overall health. Post-menopausal women are at greater risk for heart disease and osteoporosis.
